TOTUS TUUS, MARIA !

EXPLOSIONS OF LIGHT

anthology composed of theses by the Queen of Heaven
concerning the darkness and the power of the Light

inspired to Myriam van Nazareth

Within the framework of Her most sacred Mission in these Last Times, which consists of providing inner guidance to the souls on their journey towards the disclosure of the Christ’s Works of Redemption on their own path through life the Mistress of all souls inspired the composition of an anthology of reflections for the purpose of teaching and encouraging every soul who is determined to live her life on earth as an all-encompassing service to the Light, the only Source of all Love and happiness, which is omnipotent and invincible yet whose effects on earth become visible and noticeable only in the soul who allows her own wishes and expectations to merge with the wishes and expectations of God Himself.

In such a soul the Divine Light is already enthroned and the way to Eternal Paradise is constructed with every one of her actions, words, thoughts, feelings, desires and aspirations, as deep down in her heart she is already merged with the Heart and Will of God.

The Holy Virgin Mary was the only human soul throughout the history of mankind who lived every single moment of Her entire life in an absolute perfection. As to the purpose and goal of our own lives everyone of us has got the same programme in life as the Mother of God had while She was still on earth.

The Heavenly Mistress offers the reflections and theses in the underlying writing as yet another auxiliary to the souls She loves so dearly, within the framework of Her teachings in the Science of Divine Life, which pursues but one single goal: preparing the souls for the accomplishment of God’s Plan of Salvation, in order that this world may finally become the Paradise of true Love, Peace, happiness and Justice God had in mind when He made creation as a tremendous piece of evidence for His boundless and absolutely perfect Love.

In the present anthology the themes are numbered. Nevertheless the numbers do not indicate any absolute order. In fact the themes can be studied in any order, yet the most fruitful way to gain a deep understanding of the whole is to study all themes, bearing well in mind that every single theme is closely related to any other.

To the extent souls are willing to practice the knowledge offered in the present writing with full confidence the control exerted by the darkness over this world can and will be weakened. The final and total victory of the Queen of Heaven over Satan and his works of destruction is a Promise made to us by God. This victory is currently being fully prepared by the Mistress of all souls in Her teachings and advices, and particularly through Her greatly hidden actions inside the souls who have consecrated themselves totally to Her and who actually practice this consecration in the deepest self-denial.

The present anthology provides a powerful and expressive indication for this. Indeed, this writing is loaded with the power to help dissipate the mist of blindness, deception, confusion and the countless faces of temptation. When the mist is lifting a Light appears, which tries to bring the rays of the sun from God’s Heart to the souls: the Woman in Her highest and all-encompassing capacity as the Mistress of all souls, all, because also all demons are totally subjected to Her power and, therefore, She possesses the power to rob all works of darkness of their effects, provided, and to the extent to which, human souls provide their active collaboration.

This is exactly where the promise of the present anthology lies, and it expresses the expectation harboured by the Queen of Heaven towards the souls who will be prepared to make use of these texts in their lives for the glory of their God. May many souls embrace this writing for what the Heavenly Mistress intended it to be: a token of unsurpassed Heavenly Love.

Explosions of Light

1. We are experiencing the darkest times in the history of salvation

By revealing the Holy Virgin Mary in Her capacity as the Mistress of all souls God may very well have shown mankind the greatest mercy since His Son Jesus Christ’s death on the Cross and His Resurrection. In this capacity the Queen of Heaven unfolds the fullness of the power God invested Her with. She was predestined by God to be the Commander in the battle waged by the Light against the darkness. The human souls received God’s Promise that 'the Woman', the Queen of Heaven, will gain the final victory in this battle. To that end She received an unlimited power over all souls: over angels, saints, human souls, as well as over all demons (the souls who have damned themselves by cutting themselves off from all Love).

Throughout the ages the darkness (the whole of all damned souls and all of their works and plans which directly counteract God and His Works and Plans and inspire against the latter) has left no stone unturned to pull souls away from God, and has been using countless strategies to do so. All along its purpose has been that these souls would get lost and God’s Works and Plans would be destroyed. Souls are deceived by the millions, are brought to harbour vices and commit sins, and are blinded to God’s only Truth. As a result, the darkness seems to have gained total control of the world.

This is why God is more than ever calling on the souls to consecrate themselves totally and unconditionally to Mary as the Mistress of all souls, who aims at sanctifying all actions, words, prayers, sacrifices, expiations, thoughts, feelings and desires consecrated to Her, covers all of this with Her absolutely perfect Love and offers it to God with this value She has thus multiplied. In this enriched state God then incorporates it into His Works.

This is where, in these Last Times, the most powerful weapon against the forces of darkness lies hidden. Every soul who consecrates herself to Mary and who intensively practices this consecration in her daily life makes contributions to constructing the foundation of God’s Kingdom on earth.

By intensively practicing her consecration to Mary and actively contributing to the accomplishment of God’s Works of Love the soul helps convert the hope for the final victory of the Light over the darkness into a reality.

2. Creation as a battlefield

God predestined His creation to be His Kingdom. The human soul was to be the masterpiece this Kingdom on earth would get. In order to live up to these expectations the human soul must fully maintain the state of sanctity she had been granted. The evil one, to whom permission had been granted to try the human souls, succeeded in bringing the first pair of human souls to disobedience towards God’s Law: The original sin was committed, and since every sin is the fruit of a lack of Love for God the covenant between God and the human soul He had meant to be the representative of His Works on earth, was, in a manner of speaking, torn up. After all the said covenant was based on perfect Love and an impeccable observation of God’s Law.

God did not want to leave matters the way they were, as He wanted to revert the human souls to the state of sanctity at any price. He entered into the New Covenant with the human souls, a covenant which was to be based on His merciful Love and would expect the souls to observe His Law. God’s Son Jesus Christ opened up the New Covenant on the Cross and signed it with His Blood. The human souls were given the principles of Eternal truth and the example of the redeeming power generated by sufferings which are accepted and borne with Love, and they were also given the example of a created soul who was conceived in the state of perfect holiness and preserved this state throughout Her life: Mary, the Woman, who:

  • as the immaculate tabernacle of the Most Holy Trinity was chosen to be the virginal Mother of Jesus Christ;
  • was presented to Satan as his absolutely invincible Opponent;
  • received the command over the battle of the Light against the darkness.

Mary, the Heavenly Queen who in 2005 was announced in Her capacity as the Mistress of all souls, was granted an unlimited power over Satan and all of his works of darkness. She can freely and fully use this power against the darkness in the lives of human souls. Teaching this knowledge, and helping souls to fathom this knowledge to the highest possible degree and to get to understand the truth of it is one of the goals of the Maria Domina Animarum Work, which offers these theses to the souls by order of Mary, the Domina Animarum Omnium (Mistress of all souls).

3. What plan is Satan harbouring, and how does he plan to carry it out?

What is Satan’s goal?

Destroying mankind and all of God’s creation.

How?

By manipulating man’s behaviour so as to let it work for him, in order that the accomplishment of his plans might be advanced.

How is he going about this in concrete terms?

By making use of man’s needs (and therefore his weaknesses), i.e. by making them work for him.

What needs or weaknesses, respectively, and with what consequences?

First and foremost hedonism, selfishness, self-assertion, greed and curiosity. Together these dispositions lead to the destruction of the body, poisoning of the heart, major mental confusion, distortion of social relations, decline of all virtues, turning off one’s own conscience, loss of all awareness of sin, decline of all Christian values, very rapid increase of general impiety, general dissatisfaction, very rapid decrease of all zest for life, major feelings of insecurity in society, and a very rapid increase of the number of souls living in a relative – or even in an absolute – state of disgrace.

Satan’s eventual goal is the establishment of his kingdom on earth. Modern society seems to be proving he is succeeding in achieving his goal. The general atmosphere you can observe in your life in these times is the breath of evil which, in a manner of speaking, is wrapping the world in a growing cloud. This is where all chaos, confusion, dissatisfaction, lack of Love, impiety and a general feeling of being unhappy originate, all these factors which threaten your life day after day.

Only one medicine possesses the power to revert the world to the original order God had provided it with when He created it: man’s reverting to the state of sanctity, i.e. to a behaviour and inner dispositions which are fruitful for the accomplishment of the works the God of Love wants to complete on earth day after day, through the hands, mouths, hearts, minds and the free will of all human souls.

4. What is God’s answer to the strategy of the darkness?

● From the outset He promised the eventual victory of the Light, and He preluded it in the Immaculate Conception of the Most Holy Virgin Mary and Her never committing the slightest sin. A Divine Promise is like an eternally valid Law that will be fulfilled with certainty, at the time established by God in His Eternal Wisdom.

● He sent His Son Jesus Christ into the world as the Man-God to sanctify all trials and sufferings of human nature and invest them with powers of Redemption, to deliver the souls from the devastating effects of the original sin, to teach God’s eternal truth, and to institute the holy Sacraments.

● In so doing He founded His Plan of Salvation for all creation entirely on the Mystery of Redemption, which provides that the combination of the Christ’s Suffering, death on the Cross and Resurrection with all sufferings that are accepted and consecrated with Love by human souls will eventually render the works of the darkness ineffective.

● He created the Mystery of the total, unconditional and everlasting consecration to the Most Holy Virgin Mary as a sacred covenant between human souls and the Mother of God, through which human souls actively and purposely allow their entire life and their entire being to be made part and parcel of His Plan of Salvation, and do so in ways allowing the consecrated elements to be purified by virtue of the infinite merits gained by the immaculate sanctity of the Most Holy Virgin.

● In these Last Times He announced the Most Holy Virgin to the souls in Her capacity as the Mistress of all souls, the overarching capacity in which the Queen of Heaven and earth helps the souls who surrender to Her totally to be innerly remoulded and teaches them the Science of Divine Life, all of this with a view to turning them into valuable, very well informed warriors against the darkness and to assisting them with the completion of the Christ’s Works of Redemption within themselves through their own active collaboration.

In the Science of Divine Life God brings the fullness of Truth and teachings of true Love, hope and encouragement to the souls. By Divine proxy the Mistress of all souls is in the deepest sense of the word Mistress over the darkness, and in God’s time She is to render all darkness ineffective by crushing it under Her foot once and for all. This is how She was called upon to help open up the Christ’s Works within the souls, and to do so like a Heavenly Bridge of Light.

5. How is Satan distorting God’s creation?

Ever since the original sin was committed the forces of evil have been doing their utmost to make man work for their benefit. As a result a very large part of mankind has fallen into the state of slavery towards Satan, serving his plans of destruction perfectly, in many cases without being well aware of it. 'Not being aware' does not mean the soul who allows Satan to deploy her for the accomplishment of his works would not have any share in the process: A soul only becomes Satan’s slave if, and to the extent to which, she allows her free will to be occupied by the darkness and thus starts taking decisions which serve the interests of the darkness.

Man often serves Satan a lot more effectively and zealously than he serves God. Why is this so? Because in serving the darkness man tends to believe he is actually serving the satisfaction of his own needs, whereas in reality he is serving evil and is helping to distort creation, for many seeming needs of human souls are actually false needs inspired to them by the darkness in order that they might contribute to the advancement of the completion of plans and works of the darkness.

Satan distorts God’s creation by manipulating and abusing man’s needs. Whoever feels needs is dependent on their satisfaction if he wants to feel good. From the outset Satan understood he could get man totally in his power if he managed to take control of the satisfaction of man’s basic needs. Therefore we should ask ourselves which 'weaknesses' in human nature have become Satan’s major targets. Only then will we be able to rob him of souls for God’s benefit and to learn how to defend ourselves effectively against his manipulations. This knowledge is of paramount importance if we are to help establish the Kingdom of Jesus Christ on earth.

Satan would not settle for a mere manipulation of man’s vital needs. First and foremost he went to great lengths to see to it that an ever increasing amount of seeming needs would be born. The latter are things ever more people perceive as impossible to do without, whereas in reality they are not. Very often these pseudo needs go hand in hand with a certain mentality which (suddenly or gradually) becomes the general standard in society. The Heavenly Mistress pointed out in the past how greatly man’s thinking and feeling has been changing in the course of time, and what major spiritual decline has been going along with this. God was expelled from many people’s lives, the awareness of sin has been declining continuously, and the door is wide open to inspirations which do not originate with the Spirit of God. As a result man keeps drifting further away from the path God provided him to travel on.

6. How can Satan destroy the human soul?

By reducing man to such a state of disgrace that, according to the Law of Divine Justice, he readily condemns himself and therefore precludes his own access to Heaven. This state of disgrace is the state which arises when the soul is burdened with so many and/or with such serious sins that even Divine Mercy and the Intercession of the Holy Virgin Mary are no longer able to intervene to such a degree as to provide for the soul to be purified and acquitted in the hour when judgment is passed on her life.

Satan is always manipulating man through temptations, seductions and deceptions with the intention of setting up pitfalls that are likely to make him stumble and commit violations against God’s Basic law of true Love, i.e. sins. If man commits such violations frequently he can fall into a state of disgrace, which turns his soul over to Satan.

Why is Satan doing this?
He is doing this with a view to stealing souls away from God and to making them his slaves in the 'kingdom' of hell. All of creation is involved in a continuous struggle between good and evil (Light and darkness – God and Satan). This struggle has but one single goal and one single object: to gain souls. God wants Eternal Bliss to be every single soul’s share, Satan on the other hand wants eternal perdition for every single soul. He aims for man, who was intended by God to be the king of creation and a mirror of God’s sanctity, to be made a total mockery of, thereby showing God that man, invested by Him with sanctity, can very well be turned into a totally submissive mere plaything in the claws of evil, claws which have the power to disfigure, to wound and to tear the soul up as and whenever they see fit, so as to prevent the soul from reflecting God’s perfect beauty. This is how Satan aims at lashing out to God Himself and His dignity in the first place.

What strategy is Satan pursuing to achieve this goal?
Right from the start he has been looking for the weaknesses and vulnerabilities in human nature. No man is exactly like any other man, one has got a stronger resistance to temptation than the other, one is more sensitive to this type of temptation, another is more sensitive to another type. But every single human has by nature got needs on account of his living in a physical body: nourishment, clothing, lodging, rest, medical care... Those needs must be provided for if the body is to be able to sustain life. Satan has been manipulating those needs from the outset, and moreover he has seen to it that man could be inspired new, additional pseudo needs (i.e. that he does need this or that as an inevitability), and that the existing needs should be felt by man to be increasingly important.

This is how man can actually make satisfying his worldly needs the sole purpose and goal of his life. Thus is born the germ of eternal perdition: Satan has succeeded in manipulating human society to such an extent as to make it increasingly serve the goals of the darkness, evil, the destruction of souls. When it is said that mankind is destroying itself it would actually be more accurate to say that Satan is exciting mankind to the point of willingly allowing to be destroyed by him, through hands and minds he has managed to put at his service because they have allowed him to abuse them for his purposes. So eventually it is man’s free will which is casting the world into darkness by enabling Satan to occupy human free will.

7. What is sin?

Sin is every action, word, thought or omission through which the soul causes one or more of the following forms of damage:

1. damage to God’s interests. Broadly speaking one may assume that God’s interests are damaged in many cases in which satisfying one’s own needs is the primary intention. You should focus on God’s expectations in everything you do or do not do.

2. damage to a fellow creature:

  • to its life, e.g. murder, abortion, euthanasia...
  • to its body, e.g. abuse; failing to provide food (or providing inferior food) to a fellow creature which is entrusted to one’s care...
  • to its feelings, e.g. robbing a fellow creature of its peace of heart, hurting it...
  • to its mind, e.g. intentionally confusing it, exasperating it, driving it to the edge of despair, exerting psychological terror...
  • to its soul, e.g. making the other an accomplice to one’s own sin; forcing the other morally to approve of one’s own opinion while one is erring, thus making the other a victim of vice against his will; cursing someone; setting bad or sinful examples; raising one’s children in ways incompatible with Christianity...
  • to its goods and possessions, e.g. theft, intentionally causing damage or destroying, deception, extortion...
  • to its relations, e.g. causing strife among people, giving a fellow person a bad name or making the latter look suspicious (gossip, defamation, slander)...
  • to its interests, e.g. subjecting one’s fellow person to unfair competition; not minding one’s fellow creatures needs.

3. preventing oneself from accomplishing the mission or following the path God expects to be accomplished or followed, respectively, e.g. neglecting oneself or not using due care (among others by making oneself sick, by all kinds of addictions); also most vices are self-destructive (hate, jealousy, bitterness, feelings of resentment, envy, vengefulness...).

8. What is the essence of sin?

In other words: What makes an act, a word, a thought, a feeling or a desire sinful? Five elements were revealed to me, all of them being present in every sinful act, word, thought, feeling or desire:

1. Sin kills or injures the grace God has poured out into your soul
The sinful act maims the original sanctity of your soul. When He created your soul God lit within her a flame of sanctity, a holy fire which contains a particle of His Divine Being. As sinful acts are committed this flame is gradually extinguished, and all the more so as one sin after the other is committed, in proportion as sins are of a more serious nature, and as they are not properly confessed and expiated. This leads to a growing chilling effect on the soul, and a growing inclination towards letting herself be further blinded: The 'holy fire' produces ever less heat and light. Every soul is meant to lead a holy life. Sanctity is the greatest of graces, because it unites the soul with Divinity and guarantees her Eternal Bliss in Heaven after her earthly life has ended. Every sinful act decreases the sparkle of this sanctity, and thereby the soul’s actual vital force.

2. Sin constitutes a violation of God’s Will
What is the Will of God? God desires the soul’s Salvation, the sanctity of creation as a whole, and harmony among all elements of creation. A sinful act disturbs this entire mechanism, which God created so perfectly. This is why sin makes man an offender against God’s holy Law and why it burdens the human soul with a debt towards Divine Justice. Sin makes man a factor of disruption within the system God intended to be stainless. By acting, speaking, thinking, feeling or desiring in ways incompatible with the Will of God the soul is, in a manner of speaking, marked with a stain or a wound, and she looses part of her initial beauty.

3. Sin constitutes a denial of Love
Every sin is ultimately a violation of Love, which is the driving force of all life within creation. This is why every sinful act is a disruption of the deep essence of all life, by which the channels of nourishment and communication between the soul and God are clamped. The result is a growing 'malnourishment' or 'starvation' of the soul and an increasing alienation of the soul from God. God has given the soul everything, and also shows her the prospect of the greatest treasures in Eternal Life. Sin is like a slap in the face He receives in exchange.

4. To God sin is tantamount to the soul opting in favour of evil
However, such a choice is like the rebellious angels’ disobedience revisited. Every sin influences the battle between the Light and the darkness in favour of Satan, and increases the latter’s power over mankind as a whole. Indeed, the origin of sin lies in temptation, a seduction or a deception emanating from the forces of darkness, which are constantly trying to pull man away from God for the purpose of corrupting him. Sin itself is the act of giving in to this evil inspiration and therefore an act of opting in favour of evil to the detriment of the purity God expects of every soul. This is what makes every sin a sort of desecration of God as the Creator, Redeemer and Sanctifier.

5. Sin demonstrates a certain indifference to the Christ’s redeeming sufferings and the Sorrows of Mary as the Co-Redemptrix
Jesus incarnated for the purpose of enabling every soul of good will (i.e. every soul who unconditionally makes her free will one with the Will of God) to be granted Eternal Bliss, through His infinite Sufferings and His death on the Cross. His Sufferings were complemented by the Sorrows endured by His Mother, the Most Blessed Virgin Mary, during Her entire life of trials experienced in perfect accordance with the Will of God. In order to turn the fruits of this Plan of Redemption into an effective redemption within your own life you are expected to live a life of faith in Jesus Christ as the Saviour, and of virtue. Every sinful act can be regarded by God as a lack of respect and Love for the Works of Redemption. Jesus instituted the New Covenant. This is to be understood as an agreement of Redemption, to which every soul is to contribute in the form of an utmost effort to become worthy of this Work of Redemption through her own actions, omissions and inner dispositions.

9. The Mistress of all souls often speaks about 'the Light'

This has given rise to some people going on the assumption the Maria Domina Animarum Work must have some connection with esoterism. This assumption is based on their perception of certain concepts and images they can find on the website conveying the teachings of the Mistress of all souls. In several places in the texts (not least in the menu item Eternal Spring) the Mother of God pointed out this assumption is both totally absurd and to be considered an allegation intended to make the Mistress of all souls look like something unreal.

One of the concepts that is sometimes ill understood is that of 'the Light'. This concept, when used within the context of this Work, has not got anything whatsoever to do with esoterism. Mary defines the Light as the whole of God’s guidance and of the inspirations from the Holy Spirit. The Light is God’s state of being, a state consisting of His perfect Wisdom as well as the ability to maintain Life in perfect Divine Love. The Light is the ability to see everything the way it truly is in relation to God. Thus the Light is also the ability to preserve Love in a holy state. One might also put it this way: The Light is the power source from which everything proceeds and by which all living beings are kept alive. This is why the Mistress of all souls sometimes compares God with the sun as the source of all light (Wisdom and Truth) and heat (true Love and true Peace) for all creation.

In certain prayers within the framework of Mary’s Flower Garden requests are launched for the soul to be delivered from any influence which is not compatible with the Light of God’s Love. In concrete terms this is a supplication to obtain the deliverance from influences proceeding from any force that is not a bearer of God’s Truth or that aims at blinding souls to the real Truth about everything including about oneself.

In the eyes of the Queen of Heaven the most efficient way to a thorough purification and inner transformation is the way of total surrender and consecration to Her. In proportion as a soul wants to be Hers, surrenders her entire being and her entire life to Her and actually practices this consecration to Mary in ever more details of her everyday life the Queen of Heaven will be able to assist this soul more deeply and more lastingly in the process of inner transformation. This also means that Mary will then be able to strengthen this soul far more efficiently 'from the inside out': The soul will learn to look at her environment and her life in a different way, viz. through the light of true hope and of understanding how valuable it can be for God if a soul harbours the right attitude towards any negative experience.

10. Sin and conversion

A soul can be injured for any number of reasons. Essentially a soul injures herself each time she gives in to a temptation, for at that moment she is tearing herself loose from the connection with God’s Heart. Through this wound she will lose 'a certain amount of Divine Life', which will make her more susceptible to further temptations and will to a certain extent cause her inner life to get unbalanced. The Mother of God can help the soul find a new balance and cleanse herself of the by-products of her aberration. The night of sin may have been ever so dark, there will always follow a morning for the soul who truly wants to experience the dawn of the new day. If the awareness of one’s own aberrations is linked up with a desire for true Love in one’s heart a conversion can come about.

Conversion need not necessarily be pictured as the turnaround after a major false step or after a life of serious sinning: Converting is a thing the soul can do any day, even after the slightest aberration, for conversion is any turnaround after the birth of the awareness of not having quite acted, spoken, thought or felt in perfect accordance with Divine Law, even in relatively minor things. Conversion is like rising after any fall under the weight of temptation. No attitude towards life is better suited to achieve this permanent conversion as well as to revert from the chronic tendency to commit sin than the attitude underlying a genuinely practiced total consecration to Mary which is truly perceived and experienced as one’s only true purpose in life and is therefore practiced to he utmost in all and any aspects of life.

Satan is always trying to keep the soul imprisoned in an atmosphere which oppresses and suffocates her. Living in sincere consecration to Mary is like applying CPR all the time. Mary cherishes and cares for the soul that has surrendered to Her and is actually sanctifying, practicing and experiencing this covenant in everyday life, and She does so in an atmosphere which allows the soul to breathe more freely, an atmosphere which reminds the soul of the one prevailing inside God’s Heart, in which she was created.

To use an image: Sin is like an oven releasing carbon monoxide in a small house of which all doors and windows are firmly shut. The soul will slowly suffocate. Becoming aware of sin, and particularly consecrating oneself and living accordingly is similar to opening all doors and windows.

Sins need not leave pointless wounds. You can also offer sins and your remorse over them up to Mary. Yes, even sins, not because they would be undone in the process, which they are not, but because such a consecration basically means the soul has become aware of her false steps, is longing to cleanse herself of them, and is now humbly imploring to be granted the strength not to relapse into her sins again. Therefore such a consecration is tantamount to a confession of guilt spoken by the soul in the presence of the great Advocate, in order that the grace of being forgiven may be granted, as well as a rebirth on a level of spiritual life which is 'more free of sin'. Offering sins up to Mary without any sincere remorse and without the firm intention to henceforth fill one’s inner dispositions (feelings, desires etc.) with nothing but selfless Love, makes no sense at all. Such an act neither sets the guilty soul free nor brings an offsetting light upon God’s creation, nor does it show God that the soul is feeling sorry for having put His Love to shame.

11. What tempts a soul into committing sin?

Mary is the only creature that has ever led a life which was totally free from sin. Just like any other human being She, too, was susceptible to temptation, but in a truly heroic way She resisted each and every temptation. Her power over the inspirations from Satan was absolute. It is therefore self-evident that a human soul could never find a better soul than Her to share her powerlessness in the struggle against temptation with, and there could never be anyone who would be more able than Mary to obtain any soul the strength and support to hold her own in this struggle and to assist her in developing a greater resistance against temptation.

One might picture the evil one as a monster which is constantly roaming around the castle of the soul, unrelentingly looking for any crumbling brick and every minor crack through which it might get to make its way into the castle. The crumbling bricks and the cracks in the walls are the soul’s weaknesses, the poorly insulated spots through which the soul keeps loosing Divine Life and graces and through which the burglar keeps gaining control of the castle. Satan is constantly studying the soul, her tendencies and inclinations, and avails himself of each and every weakness that become apparent to lure the soul into his pitfalls. Hence the necessity for the soul to reinforce her character and her will to such an extent as to be able to resist the burglar and to keep imploring for her Love to grow, in order that she might be able to opt ever more often and ever more persistently for the interests of Heaven.

What tempts a soul into committing sin? Very often selfishness, greed, pride, arrogance, lust of power, dissatisfaction, hedonism, hate, lack of Love, lack of ability to discern between good and evil, and/or the feeling that there is no point to life. This is why a permanent deliverance from sinfulness and from the susceptibility to temptation requires that the soul should develop exactly the opposite dispositions: self-denying Love, detachment from as many material needs as possible, humility, mortification of oneself, awareness and understanding of good and evil, and adding meaning to even the smallest things in life. All of this, as well as the paths to achieve it all, is the subject of the teachings the Mistress of all souls provides through Her Science of Divine Life. Time and time again it will be made clear how desirable it is for a soul who is truly willing to find the way to a new life that she should surrender to Mary in a covenant of total consecration which is practiced conscientiously.

12. The darkness tackles souls along various ways

One could say the darkness tackles souls both from the inside and from the outside.

From the inside it operates through:

  • temptations
  • dark inspirations
  • influencing the soul’s mood
  • attacking faith, confidence, hope and Love

From the outside it operates through:

  • the entire global atmosphere in the world at large, which has constantly been undermined by Satan himself so thoroughly throughout the ages that the world is now totally pervaded with his thoughts and geared to achieving his goals. He sows chaos and confusion all over the world. Confusion undermines the satisfaction of man’s need for any hold, as well as faith (if there exists a God, then how come there are no certainties?). Moreover he has been poisoning large parts of mankind by inspiring ungodly worldviews, ideologies, philosophies, and materialistic ungodly political, economic and scientific thinking;
  • fellow people: Souls are poisoned against each other, mutually cause each other harm, discourage one another. The darkness can make a soul’s life hell through the interventions of fellow people, abuse a soul, torture her, discourage her (discouragement paralyzes a soul’s zest for accomplishing her mission in life), seduce her (through arousing her sexual desires), even destroy her physically (murder, assault, torture, starvation...).

In this world a great many things have been destroyed by people slandering their fellow persons, badmouthing them, making them look dishonest or untruthful and robbing them of their entire credibility in the eyes of their fellow people. Particular targets of such actions are souls who are making serious and sincere efforts to perform good things filled with Light or speak, distribute and aspire for good things or words filled with Light, in order that such souls, too, might get weakened in their ability to love and that they might lose their trust in God’s protection and in His Works of Love.

However, God will not of His own accord paralyze Satan and his works, because it is in the nature of His Laws that human souls must be given the opportunity to shape their lives in complete freedom. This is why prayer and sacrifices are needed for everything, even for deliverance from the works of Satan. In a manner of speaking God must hear from the mouth (meaning: from the heart) of man himself that the latter aspires only to follow God and to be guided by Him and to abide by His Laws of Love only. Only then will God be able to intervene, even in those cases where dark influences are operating.

A factor making it difficult for God to intervene is the fact not very many human souls purposely long for God’s activity to get absolute priority in their lives and in the world, and that, consequently, many prayers have a hard time getting answered due to the tremendous resistance raised to them by the most various counterforces. A great deal of Love, perseverance, patience and trust may be necessary to change certain circumstances that are filled with darkness. This is neither due to God nor to any lack of benevolence on His part, but merely to the poor state of grace to which mankind has sunken: A great many efforts are needed to somewhat counterbalance the effects of sin in this world. An adequate compensation of the effects of sin would be expressed by the fact Love would make itself be felt a lot more clearly in this world. The souls would experience this as a feeling of genuine security and inner peace. Exactly such an experience would express the fact God is enabled to freely work within a soul, just like it was the case in the Garden of Eden prior to the fall of man and just like it will be again in the Messianic Age.

13. Every soul is able to defeat the darkness

The Mistress of all souls emphasized it on several occasions already: Every soul is able to defeat the devil, through the power of a growing Love for God and of an unshakable faith in the power of the crucified Christ. It can be very effective for a soul to threaten dark influences with the Presence of the Heavenly Queen and by making a sincere confession that Mary is her only and sovereign Mistress, in Her capacity as the golden Bridge to God Himself, who has given Her to the souls as an inner Guide to the Heart of Christ.

Satan’s fear of Mary is beyond description. I was granted the privilege of experiencing this several times, and every time the Queen of Heaven made me witness this truth. However, for Satan to get intimidated by being threatened with the name of Mary it is imperative that the soul should have a rock-solid faith in the invincible power of the Queen of Heaven. Nothing will convince him more than the soul invoking the name of MARY while also offering some action or sacrifice of self-denial for the glorification of the power of the Queen of Heaven over the devil and of Her sublimity, e.g. by prostrating herself before Mary and offering Her her prayers as well as the free disposal of her entire person. If the soul gives evidence of her glorifying Mary’s power over her this can totally incapacitate Satan.

Nevertheless one should bear in mind that some trials, no matter whether they are caused by Satan or not, must be endured anyway, if Divine Providence judges this to be proper for the benefit of the soul (trials accepted with Love yield fruit, although most of such fruits will remain hidden to the soul for the entire duration of her life on earth). The reason may be:

  • that the soul must go through certain developments for which the trial concerned may be of service to her (Divine Wisdom will be the judge of this);
  • that at a given point of time the accomplishment of God’s Plan of Salvation makes it necessary for certain elements of lovingly accepted and consecrated sufferings to be sustained and Divine Wisdom to invite certain souls to contribute to this;

In both these cases it is possible that even a self-debasing glorification to the power of the Queen of Heaven does not set the soul free right away. In such a case, however, the soul – provided she opens her heart unrestrainedly – will in some way or another be given the strength to be able to make the sacrifice. A trial endured in a state of heart in which the soul feels totally merged with Mary can definitely suscitate a very unusual (positive) feeling, even if this trial has definitely been caused by the darkness.

14. The invincible power of Mary

In prayer nr. 340 (which was written as early as September 2001) the Holy Virgin inspired a most striking phrase: "In the invincible power of the Triune God and of the Holy Virgin Mary I now order all forces of torment, temptation, deception and darkness to leave me and to confess their powerlessness in the Light of the Cross and at the feet of the Mother of God".

The Mistress of all souls wants to provide the following explanation: The power of the Holy Virgin is as invincible as the power of God Himself, because all power proceeding from God proceeds from His Will, and Mary’s Will is one hundred per cent identical to the Will of God (i.e. Her Will is completely merged with God’s Will), and for the entire duration of Her life on earth She never, not even on one single occasion, deviated from this Will, neither in Her actions nor in Her words, thoughts, feelings or in that which she refrained from doing. Precisely this perfect and total uniformity between the Will of Mary and the Will of God justifies the fact God invested Her with an unlimited power for all times and for all eternity. It is this power which enabled Her to keep the evil one under Her feet as of Her Immaculate Conception, and under these feet She is going to crush his head eventually.

What, in fact, is 'power'? Power is the ability to limit the alternatives of another creature’s behaviour (i.e. the latter’s options to choose from various possibilities of behaving). In other words, power is the ability to have another creature do something it would rather not do of its own accord, and to have it refrain from doing something it would actually like to do. When considered from this definition God’s power is naturally absolute. Also the power of the Queen of Heaven is unlimited, as She has received from God full powers to lead and command all souls in the ongoing battle for the completion of God’s Plan of Salvation:

  • The angels have been given Her as servants and subject themselves to Her without the slightest hesitation. Indeed, to them She represents perfect obedience and 'merger with God’s Will', which yielded Her boundless favours. The angels know that Mary’s word is identical with the word of God Himself. This is why they prostrate themselves at Her feet in a flash, exactly the way they do before the throne of God. By the way, this is not what Mary wants them to do, it is what God wants them to do;
  • In visions the Mistress of all souls allowed me to witness on various occasions how She ordered demons to prostrate themselves at Her feet, and how She did so without the slightest effort, i.e. with absolutely total success. The only factor which can prevent Mary from giving this order continuously lies in the free will of human souls, as the latter must bring themselves to imploring Her to make use of Her power. Mary is not allowed to paralyze the evil one and his following of Her own initiative, because in that case:
  1. She would be violating the Divine Decree saying that nothing is to be imposed on the human soul – not even any favours! – unless the soul herself has requested for it to happen in prayer;
  2. She would be violating the Law of Divine Justice, by virtue of which each grace, i.e. each gift from God, is to be 'paid for' by sacrifices, prayers, expiation, glorification of God and of His Works, trials and sufferings accepted and consecrated with Love, and the concrete practice of true unselfish Love in all and any aspects of daily life (as well as of everything Jesus has set an example for). God sets this condition because He judges it to be of paramount importance that human souls should demonstrate their desire to voluntarily merge their will with His Will. Demonstrating this is done much more unequivocally by making sacrifices and adopting an unmistakable attitude and inner life than by speaking mere words.
  • The human souls were given into Mary’s custody by Jesus while He was hanging on the Cross, i.e. He entrusted the souls of all times to His Mother’s care. For Mary to actually be able to fulfil this mission as a Custodian and a Leader She needed the disposal of an unlimited power over the souls. God went as far as to give His most sublime Work of wonder (Mary) the power to completely 'transform' souls from the inside out, in other words to help them unfold to such an extent as to enable them to develop their full potential to achieve sanctity. If She is to accomplish this She needs to possess full control of human souls, guiding their behaviour to the highest possible extent.
    Man’s free will makes it own choices, but the choice man makes has got consequences, which should not be taken lightly: The human soul is on earth but for one purpose only: to sanctify herself completely and thus make a positive contribution to the accomplishment of God’s Plan of Salvation. So if the soul does not entrust herself to the power of the Queen of Heaven she is actually failing to make use of this path prepared for her by God Himself for the benefit of her sanctification, a path leading to her full development and bloom and thus to a fruitful life.
    Looking at it from this angle we may say the human soul could appear to be the most powerful party, as she has got options to freely determine all her choices. However, the actual power is in the hands of the Queen of Heaven, the Mistress of all souls, for essentially She is the One who is able to help determine to a great extent every soul’s eternal fate.

In the sentence from prayer nr. 340 quoted earlier the forces of darkness are ordered to confess their powerlessness in the Light of the Cross and at the feet of the Mother of God. This order reminds the evil one of his ultimate fate: that in the hour in which God’s Kingdom will be established on earth he is to be humiliated under the feet of the Mother of God and that all of his works will thus be robbed of any effects. Mary had him at Her feet from the very beginning, as he was not able to do anything whatsoever against Her: Every single one of his attempts to tempt her into committing even the slightest sin or any relatively insignificant vice was crushed on the cliffs of Her perfect Love and Her rock-solid Will to not even in the very least deviate from God’s Law. Mary was the perfect embodiment of God’s idea of the ideal human soul: immaculately holy. 'Holy' means: able to obtain salvation or to help unlock fruits of salvation and thus to contribute to the accomplishment of God’s Plan of Salvation.

In the hour in which the Heavenly Mistress is to crush the evil one under Her feet once and for all this action will no longer be part of Her personal battle against the devil (as it was the case during Mary’s life on earth), it will be accomplished in representation of all human souls, as a token demonstrating that mankind will then be returned to the state of sanctity God destined it to be in. In that hour Mary will in the full sense of the word be 'the Woman' in the way God meant her in the Book of Genesis and in the way Jesus meant Her when He addressed Her as 'Woman': The Woman who, as the embodied sinlessness, is destined to visibly crush Satan, the source of sin, and all his following and all of his works under Her feet, in representation of all souls who will have totally surrendered to God through Her.

15. Satan’s fear of everything that is lying at Mary’s feet

In prayer flower nr. 265 (which was written in March 2001) it says: "Everything that lies at Your feet is feared by the devil". This phrase expresses a special truth in which is hidden a major element of the power held by the Mistress of all souls. What is lying at Mary’s feet? God has laid everything down at Her feet, for She is elevated infinitely high above everything other than God. Nevertheless the power of the Queen of Heaven over Satan and his works can only be exercised concretely to the extent to which human souls are actually at Her feet, and are there of their own free will. No human soul was predestined to any slavery enforced or imposed by God or by Mary. I refer to the text on Marian slavery in the menu item Consecration to Mary.

As early as in the first days after my having been called to a life at Her exclusive service the Mistress of all souls demonstrated to me the special force that is awakened against the darkness when a human soul literally prostrates herself at Mary’s feet as often as possible and for as long as she possible can. Even more important, however, is the life style through which the soul is, in the spiritual sense of the word, uninterruptedly lying at the feet of the Queen of Heaven the life style of total, unconditional consecration to Mary which is actively practiced in all situations and under all circumstances of everyday life for the entire duration of the soul’s life. Truly practiced consecration to Mary is the covenant through which the soul surrenders and offers her entire being and her entire life to Mary. Everything the soul is and has, everything she does, thinks, says, feels and wants and everything she purposely refrains from doing is offered to Mary for the purpose of enabling the Mother of God to use all of it in the battle against the darkness. The effects of total consecration to Mary constitute an extraordinarily powerful Divine Mystery, as the Mistress of all souls already explained in many writings.

In several visions the Heavenly Mistress graciously granted me She demonstrated how much an act of self-abasement performed by a human soul at Her feet costs the evil one. The latter experiences an unspeakable fear towards any act of self-abasement by a human soul at the feet of the Queen of Heaven because such acts show him the power wielded by the Mistress of all souls over such a soul. He sees how such acts glorify Her power, and how such glorification results in Her being able to express Her unlimited power over all souls (including over all demons) even more emphatically.

Thus the human soul is the key figure in the entire sequence of salvation:

  • The human soul is the stake in all elements of the battle between the Light and the darkness, between God and Satan, between Mary and the infernal serpent;
  • The human soul is able to reinforce the power of Satan over the world and over the souls by opting in his favour, by doing his works (through giving in to temptations, seductions and deceptions, in other words through committing sins time and time again without showing any resistance to speak of), and by also glorifying his works through making all worldly things the center of her interest and of her actions, thoughts and aspirations;
  • The human soul can, however, also curtail Satan’s power by persistently opposing temptations, by following the world and its standards and deceptions as seldom as possible, and by making any effort to make her life a journey of sanctification. There are no limits whatsoever to Mary’s power, owing to the fact the will of the Queen of Heaven is perfectly identical with the will of God, but the human soul can enable this power to actually produce the effects of an omnipotence over Satan if as many souls as possible surrender their entire being and their entire life to Mary in total consecration which is practiced in all and any details of everyday life.
    This is why the Mistress of all souls once said the souls would be able to help deliver the world from Satan’s claws in a flash by prostrating themselves at Her feet and enabling Her to rule them unrestrainedly. Mary would then get the opportunity to use Her power for the extermination of all evil and any dark inclination in souls, because She can make Her own Heart the ruler within the heart of the human soul to the extent to which this soul surrenders to Her inner guidance.

The Mistress of all souls points to the fact that any act of glorification of Her power and sublimity is frightening to Satan because such acts are transformed into graces which counteract some work of darkness at some place or another in the world.

She reminds the souls of the extraordinary grace bestowed in them through the vision published by the title of Confession made by a demon at the Holy Virgin Mary’s command, which can be read here.

16. Active combat against the darkness

The Queen of Heaven is so powerful that She could deliver a soul from an entire army of demons through one mere wink, one mere word, one mere glance. Nevertheless She requests the soul to collaborate with Her actively in the combat against any source of darkness. There are several reasons for this.

Firstly the soul must demonstrate through her collaboration that she is genuinely willing to make efforts to turn away from all darkness and turn towards God’s Light.

Secondly there would be no merits for the soul if she were to be 'abducted' from the dungeon of her darkness by the power exercised by the Queen of Heaven. The soul may be ever so weak, as soon as she shows her solid will to opt in favour of God and against all wordly things and interests, i.e. against temptation and sin, the Mother of God will accommodate her. If ten steps must be taken, the soul is expected to take the first one. This first step serves as a confirmation of the soul’s free will to do the right things. If after this first step the soul still proves to be willing to collaborate towards the completion of her redemption, the system of Divine grace will be activated. No man is to know how, in what form, this will express itself.

The most effective way for the Queen of Heaven to obtain a soul a lasting conversion or a persistent determination to opt in favour of sanctifying herself lies herein, that She does not simply make this soul rise above herself through the effects of the Heavenly Queen’s power, but teaches the soul in such a way and assists her with her inner transformation in such a way that this soul is enabled to actively participate in her own deliverance. This is how God operates under all and any circumstances, because:

  • this is exactly where the true power of an actively practiced consecration to Mary lies: The soul surrenders herself to Mary of her own free will;
  • this is exactly where true Redemption lies: Jesus has bought our Redemption, but every individual soul is to unlock it for herself, in other words: The Christ’s Works of Redemption are the seeds, the soul herself is to bring this seed to maturity within herself. Many Christians keep forgetting this. God will not impose anything upon anyone, not even His graces.

17. Mary as a remedy against all temptation

Mary is the remedy against all temptation. The soul will be able to experience this in proportion as her Love for the Queen of Heaven grows. As true unselfish Love flares up in the heart it seems as though temptation loses its appeal. The more a soul harbours a special Love for the Mother of God this Love will prevent her from doing anything of which she knows Mary would not like it or would never do it Herself. This is why a true understanding of the virtues and vices and of God’s expectations towards the souls, as well as some basic knowledge about the dispositions prevailing in the Mother of God Herself and of the way She lived as a human being on earth is most useful, if not downright necessary.

This is the reason why the Mistress of all souls inspires all the writings She offers within the framework of Her Science of Divine Life. As this Science constitutes a perfectly coherent system we can most safely say that all Myriam writings convey exactly the knowledge the souls need to not only distinguish between good and bad but also to sense exactly why a certain kind of behaviour or a certain inner disposition is spiritually fruitful or not. In concrete terms this means the Science of Divine Life aims at guiding souls towards an ever purer practice of true Love.

All of this is very closely intertwined. Every time a soul gives in to temptation she is actually giving priority to some personal satisfaction over a strict practice of Divine Law. Therefore at that moment she is lacking in true Love for God and His Works. As soon as this Love increases and outgrows the inclination to satisfy a personal need the soul will refrain from giving in to temptation. Thus we can say that Love reaches perfection as soon as the soul no longer feels any inclination to sin or to give in to temptation. The degree to which a soul is inclined to give in to temptation therefore provides a measure for the extent to which true Love has been developing inside of her.

It is extraordinarily meritorious for a soul to say, whenever temptation strikes: "For Your sake I will not do this", or "Out of Love for You I will not do this", or "Out of Love for You I will not give in to this inclination". Such an attitude is true consecration and constitutes a form of mortification which promotes growth on the path to holiness. Even defeating a minor temptation is a great thing in the eyes of God, because He knows this may require a substantial self conquest. Such moments are like a succesful attack against the fortress of the evil one and like forcing the evil one to retreat from his positions inside the soul.

Genuinely practiced consecration to Mary is a disposition which can, in various respects, be regarded as similar to the disposition one can observe in oneself when one is in love: The soul longs for the beloved one and desires nothing more than the unity of hearts. She absolutely wants to be like the loved one because she actually venerates the latter’s entire way of being and because more than anything she wants to please him or her, respectively. Something similar happens in the soul who, out of sheer Love for Mary, totally surrenders to Her: This soul wants to be just like Mary was, and is, and always will be, and will do anything to please Her to the utmost. As soon as this urge dominates her entire being the soul will turn away from one vice after the other, for she keeps establishing "Mary would not like this, She would never do such a thing, She would never react like this, She would never think this way, She would never speak like this...". If this disposition is harboured the right way this will one day bring the death of temptation in the soul.

18. The final victory over sin

Offering reparation for the sins, missteps or omissions of one’s own life is very powerful, because by so doing the soul expresses to God the fact she regrets she has ever stopped abiding by His Laws. In fact this means the soul wished she had never sinned in her life. If this understanding truly takes root deep inside, Satan regards this as a humiliation.

Making reparation produces an effect which keeps increasing in proportion as the soul perseveres in her will never to repeat the sins of her past. Abstaining from sin is a matter of imploring and truly making use of a Divine grace. Original sin has immensely weakened the human soul. This makes combat against the darkness very hard, makes it very demanding on the soul, and makes it anything but self-evident that the soul would ever win the fight. The Mistress of all souls always stressed how important it is for the soul not to attempt waging this war on her own, but to implore Her protection and support day after day, as She was called by God to crush Satan’s head, with Her servants’ contribution.

Success in the struggle against daily temptation and against the various influences from the world is not so much a matter of being a hero on certain days, but a matter of reinforcing and developing all inner dispositions of virtue, not only in the greater manifestations but also in the seemingly minor ones. One could picture this inner reconstruction as erecting new walls inside the soul, during which process the cement of one’s own persistent will to do the right things must constantly be mixed with the water of grace. Without this water the new walls will not even stand for as long as a single day. God knows this, and this is why He sends the Mistress of all souls to us with Her Heavenly teachings, which open up to us the mysteries of our soul and offer us the user manual according to which we are to renew our walls. On each and every page of this manual – which is entitled Science of Divine Life – it is written that the soul can hardly do this without the Queen of Heaven.

The Mistress of all souls may be ever so powerful, She is not allowed to do anything concretely without the soul’s sincere and active collaboration. She needs everything the soul can give Her: her being, her life, her will (in concrete terms: her own expectations, desires and visions), even her remorse over all and any mistakes of her life. As soon as She has got all of this in Her power She can begin crushing the serpent within the soul. Innumerable serpents from hell have already fallen prey to Her powerful feet. The great serpent that is called 'Satan' is to be the last one to succumb to the power of these feet. This is to be after large numbers of souls will have prostrated themselves at the feet of the Mistress of all souls, making, in a manner of speaking, a carpet of glorification awaiting the deliverance from the tyranny of the darkness. 'Awaiting' should not be understood as a passive situation but as a matter of patiently enduring all situations of life in a disposition of active commitment for the benefit of accomplishing all Works of Love God wants to complete through the soul (i.e. with her active collaboration) during the latter’s life.

19. Reparation for any darkness ever committed by mankind

The Heavenly Mistress already pointed out on several occasions how valuable it is to make reparation for any expression of darkness in the past. The concept of 'reparation' in itself reminds of the fact that something 'was not good', meaning: was not the way God’s Law would have it. God’s Laws are the way they are with good reason. They are the way they are because they are fruits of the infallible Eternal Wisdom and Love, which are geared to organizing things and developments in such a way that, if the provisions are abided by perfectly creation will be able to return to its original state. Thus only the human souls are to blame if darkness and misery seem to be and to remain the prevailing characteristics of this world: These dark developments and situations are bred only by sin, i.e. by every deviation from God’s Law of Love.

This is why reparation always refers to the fact a situation of lack of Love is compensated for by offering Love in one form or another. A soul commits a sin, she (or another soul) offers something which can be accepted by God as an act of Love: prayers, actions or words of Love or of charity, expiation, consecration of suffering or of an entire journey through life, a reverential way of dealing with Sacraments, even the offering of one’s own heart.

Offering one’s own heart is tantamount to offering all heartaches and the entire potential of Love the soul is at all able to unlock. All of this is nothing but an exchange of Light against darkness. Especially powerful are such offerings of the soul who is making them while appealing to the greatest gifts of Divine grace: the Cross of Christ, the Wounds and Blood of Christ, the Sorrows of Mary, Her Immaculate Conception.

That which has happened, has happened, nothing can change that. However, God would not be a God of Love if He had not provided a means to weaken the effects of all dark things or to compensate them, respectively. This is exactly what every soul can do, with the missteps of her own life. This is the first step towards cleansing one’s own soul and one’s journey through life by, in a manner of speaking, removing all stones and pieces of broken glass from her path and replacing all of these by flowers. God does not think highly of wastelands, He prefers flowers, which symbolize life. However He rejoices ever so much more over situations in which He has not got to create things Himself out of nothing, but in which the 'raw materials' to make things are given Him by human souls, preferably through His revered Daughter, the Mistress of all souls.

The soul can compensate for the darkness of her own life by making a drastic and sincere turnaround in her inner dispositions so as to take a back seat to serving God and all her fellow creatures. Moreover it is a good thing also to learn to whole-heartedly carry the sacrifices, crosses and trials of life in the explicit desire they may get to make up for some of the incredible and unfathomable darkness mankind has been calling down upon creation throughout the history of the world. Darkness can only be compensated for by sincere, unconditional, completely unselfish Love and service to God and to all fellow creatures.

20. The source of all negative things

Very often souls do not suspect Satan can, and does, at all interfere with that which is going on in their own minds and hearts. Pointing to Satan as the source of all negative things must never mean the human soul should not herself be responsible for her negative dispositions. The soul does wrong things because she has failed to use her free will as a brake preventing her from doing them. Satan may indeed very well be the inspiring force behind any bad action, any bad word, any bad thought and any bad feeling, to be sure, but nevertheless there is a permanent mission to be fulfilled by the soul herself: Her entire life, in all of its details, is one uninterrupted struggle against temptation, against everything which may surface and prompt the soul into doing things which may jeopardize her sanctification and the accomplishment of God’s Works and Plans.

This is why it is very important that the soul should observe herself critically so as to deveil her own weaknesses and any susceptibility to temptations. This is the only way she will be able to pinpoint the cracks in her walls, so to speak, the places through which the serpent from hell will keep entering into the fortress in which God has deposited the germ of her sanctity.

Equally important is a scrutiny of one’s own conscience. This feedback control system, through which, as long as it is functioning properly (i.e. in accordance with God’s Plans), the soul is warned whenever she is at risk of deviating from God’s expactations, can be put out of service. This easily occurs when the soul is inclined to let herself be guided by worldly thoughts and considerations. The standards and rules of worldly life very often deviate from the ones God has incorporated into the soul’s conscience. The real danger arises as soon as the soul starts to set great store by what others say and think about her, in other words: as soon as a person feels the need to seem important, interesting and special in the eyes of fellow persons.

Let us be aware of the fact there is a major trick of Satan hidden in this, too: Most souls are very sensitive as to how they are doing in the eyes of their fellow people, how they are 'scoring', how they are 'perceived' by others. Thus sooner or later every single soul ingests something of the dispositions of the world, which are not in accordance with God’s Laws. Countless sins are committed due to the fact the guilty soul hides behind the opinions and visions of others. As a majority of the souls no longer see God as the centre of life a major danger to the salvation of a great many souls is lurking in this. Very large numbers of souls leave the narrow path of virtue on account of the fact they no longer dare to be 'different' from the majority or of the fact that one day they judge themselves as being 'not normal'. The Mistress of all souls emphatically points to the fact that, in the hour in which God will pass judgment on her past life, a soul who hides behind the 'majority' will stand all alone before her God (and Mary), without the presence of those to whom she has kept adjusting her behaviour time and again.

Prayer to obtain protection from the darkness becomes more valuable in proportion as the soul will desire more ardently to increase her ability to let her behaviour and her inner life be guided exclusively by God’s expectations. In concrete terms this means an ever decreasing inclination to allow oneself to be unsettled by reactions on the part of one’s fellow people. The disposition in which the soul no longer allows herself to be shaken by worldly views and opinions can be referred to as 'the Peace of Christ': In this disposition the soul experiences her inner state as 'having come home at last', in the tangible Presence of God.
