THE HOLY VIRGIN MARY AS A SPIRITUAL OPENER

Teaching inspired by the Holy Virgin Mary

on the occasion of prayer nr. 1698 –
Storm invocation to Mary for a soul in spiritual distress

A soul in spiritual distress is a soul who, in any way whatsoever, frequently performs actions, speaks words, harbours thoughts, feelings, desires and/or aspirations which defile the soul by separating her from the actual mission in life God provides for each and every human soul, viz. the mission to be a fruitful tool for the accomplishment of God’s Plans and Works. This soul is in a state of spiritual distress due to the fact that, on account of her departure from Divine Law, she is not in harmony with Divine Life the way God wants to bring it to bloom in every soul.

Spiritual distress is (often unconsciously) experienced as a feeling of vague discontent, of 'not feeling good', of 'being deserted by God', or as a feeling of chaos in one’s inner life. The Holy Virgin points out that such feelings often express the fact that one’s conscience is unwittingly sensing that the soul is losing sight of the actual purpose of her life on earth. The actual purpose of every soul’s life on earth lies in creating a harvest of works of Love through which the Creator and God of all life must be enabled to accomplish His major Plan of Salvation for the benefit of all creation.

The state of spiritual distress often manifests itself through dispositions which show that the Light of God’s Presence is (at least partly) extinguished in the soul’s inner life. Often there is a lack of composed lightheartedness, which the Queen of Heaven once referred to as 'the Light of the soul', a lack which may give rise to the most various inclinations, habits and dispositions, ranging from grumpiness or from a certain dullness and/or an inclination to get irritated quickly to quarrelsomeness or aggressiveness (in actions and/or words) and even a destructive frenzy.

The Heavenly Mistress points to the fact that, at the level of top politics, a high degree of spiritual distress in one or several influential figures often constitutes the true foundation of a dictatorship, for belligerence, for an urge to expand national territory, a general aggression against a neighbouring country, an atmosphere of threats, large-scale corruption, repression, genocide and the most various expressions of apparently officially legalized darkness (torture, abuse, maltreatment, all and any expressions of sadism). Usually, considered in depth, a dictatorship or totalitarian political regime is based on the fact that a number of influential figures are harbouring dark dispositions in their hearts and are giving rise to these dispositions pervading all of society to create an atmosphere of general darkness all over the country, an atmosphere within which all respect for the dignity of God’s creatures is systematically eradicated. The Queen of Heaven points to the fact precisely this atmosphere becomes an embodiment of the realm of Satan, which is founded on the culture of death. In such an atmosphere often millions of human souls become prisoners of a world of distorted truths. Such souls are in an urgent need of being opened up.

Prayer flower nr. 1698 was inspired by the Holy Virgin Mary as an extraordinarily powerful supplication to Her for the purpose of assisting souls who are in such a state to open up so as to revert from their dark dispositions or their darkened inner life to an attitude which – i.e. an inner life which – is able to bring these souls (back) closer to fulfilling the Laws of God, in order that they are able to yield fruits which no longer counteract God’s intentions by contributing to the nourishment of the works of the darkness in the world. A soul can either use this prayer for her own benefit or address it to the Holy Virgin for the benefit of fellow people, no matter whether she knows these people or not, even for the benefit of politicians who are arguably sinning against human dignity and other principles rooted in a sound practice of God’s Law of self-denying Love.

In the opening sentence of prayer flower nr. 1698 Mary is implored to be the only true Mistress of inner life. When the crucified Christ, while hanging on the Cross, spoke His words "Woman, behold Your son; son, behold your Mother", these words marked the conclusion and sanctification of a covenant through which a special relationship was established between the Mother of the Man-God and all created human souls. This made Mary a full-fledged Bridge between Heaven and earth and invested Her with a sovereign power to help souls unlock innerly in order to enable them to optimally utilize the fruit of the Works of Redemption wrought by Jesus Christ. This sovereign power was necessary to guide the soul of good will (i.e. the soul who is unconditionally willing to merge her own free will with the Will of God Himself) so as to enable her to effectively open up the door to Redemption Jesus has made accessible to her.

Thus in this prayer the soul addresses the Mother of God going on a steady conviction as well as on the unconditional acceptance of the fact Mary is only able to fulfil the fullness of Her true Mission within the framework of the fulfilment of God’s Plan of Salvation to the extent to which She is enabled to act unrestrainedly as the true Mistress of the soul’s spiritual life. In this respect it is useful to quote words the Queen of Heaven once spoke privately to Myriam and which can now be published with Her consent:

"Naturally I am helping all souls wherever and whenever it is possible and can be justified within God’s Plans and Works, for my power to do so is unlimited. However, do realize that I can only fulfil my role as Protector, Guide and Mistress in a soul’s inner life to the extent to which the soul explicitly implores Me to do so, confidently and with an unrestrained acceptance of My dominating her heart. This is why My Works are more fruitful in a soul who explicitly consecrates herself to Me, who accepts My capacity as her Mistress without limitations, and who constantly practices this consecration as well as this acceptance inside her heart. Consecration to Me is not a prayer but a complete way of living, a complete ideology practiced in everyday life".

In prayer nr. 1698 Mary, the Mother of Jesus Christ, is addressed as the 'powerful Terror of all demons' and 'defeatress of all and any darkness' because She is the only one among all created human souls to have lived and completed Her entire life on earth without giving in even one single time to any temptation. This is why it is justified to say She wielded an absolutely total power over all demons and over all of their works and plans. Each and every soul on earth has a mission in life which consists of practicing the Law of true Love totally and unconditionally. Mary fulfilled this mission every single moment of Her life absolutely totally in every single aspect of Her inner life. As Her inner dispositions were in absolutely perfect accordance with God’s Law and His expectations we can say Mary was the only perfectly unlocked soul.

In concrete terms this means that Mary never, not even for one single moment, gave in to any temptation and that, therefore, She never committed any sin, not even any minor one. This is why God made Her the undisputable Queen, Mistress and Commander of the hosts of the Light, the One who is to crush the serpent’s head, i.e. the One who is to render ineffective all works and plans of the darkness and all and any effects of any works the darkness has already wrought, thus bringing disrupted creation back in line with Divine Law. In so doing She will enable the establishment of God’s Kingdom on earth and thereby help crown once and for all the Works wrought by Christ.

Having persevered in the perfect practice of Divine Law is what rightly made the Holy Virgin the perfect, invincible Protector and inner Guide for every human soul. With the ultimate intention of guiding the soul to a perfect imitation of Jesus Christ and thereby enabling her to better fulfil her mission in life as a child of God Mary possesses the power to direct every soul towards a sincere self-knowledge, a greater inner Light and a true Peace of heart. These dispositions are of paramount importance for a regular maturation of the soul into a fruit that is able to help nourish God’s Works in the world:

If the soul lacks a sincere self-knowledge she will lack understanding and awareness of her own faults, shortcomings, derailments and derogations with regard to God’s expectations. Countless souls do not know themselves, i.e.: They are not aware they are not contributing to the accomplishment of God’s Works or that in some ways they are promoting the accomplishment of the works of the darkness. Usually this is done through committing various vices and through inclinations by which the soul is failing in the field of unselfish Love or by which she robs fellow creatures of the Light and peace in their hearts or inflicts upon them any kind of harm or makes life difficult for them. Many souls lack inner Light in the sense that they are not aware of their own dark inclinations and/or that they replace the lightheartedness God loves so much by discontent, by an inclination to protest against the conditions of their lives, by harbouring negative ways to look at a great many things, and by the most various dark dispositions which rob both themselves and their fellow creatures of much inner Light and inner warmth.

To the extent to which the Holy Virgin is enabled to rule unconditionally and incontestably over a soul’s inner life She will be able to allow Her own dispositions of harbouring the purest Light to flow into this soul, which will enable Her to become active inside this soul as a genuine opener: like a hand turning the key in a lock which used to keep the soul prisoner inside her own dark feelings, thoughts and desires. A soul in a darkened emotional state is very receptive to inspirations from the forces of darkness. In a manner of speaking she locks herself up and shows little empathy with fellow creatures or refers fellow creatures’ feelings and needs to the background of her own interest by being busy dwelling on her own purported problems, often because (usually unjustly) she harbours the feeling that others or 'the world' or 'life' are doing her wrong.

Inversely, a soul who allows herself to be filled with Light becomes more receptive to the inflow of positive feelings and thoughts and is able to transform herself totally into a flower bed of positive expectations, which will automatically bring her to spontaneously opt ever more frequently in favour of doing works of Light and Love and will also highly detach her from her own expectations, needs, and her own world of thinking. Through a feeling of increasing inner freedom such a soul will start feeling a constantly decreasing need to usurp all kinds of things (selfishness, often accompanied by aggressive inclinations) as well as to harbour negative feelings and expectations with regard to many things.

Here the Heavenly Mistress is fulfilling Her true role as a key, an opener who helps clear all kinds of obstructions within the soul. A soul cannot become fruitful as a tool for the accomplishment of God’s Works and of His Plan of Salvation on earth as long as she remains a prisoner of any darkness she herself retains through her own dispositions.

As a human being on earth the Holy Virgin possessed a total power over any dark influence coming to Her from outside as well as over any attempt by Satan to inspire temptations to make Her commit any kind of sin or vice. This very power She wants to share with any soul who implores Her to do so. It is the power to harbour dispositions which could be 'translated' through words like the following:

To the extent a soul manages to make these words the major driving force of her inner life she will become more and more detached from herself as well as from her own past, i.e. from experiences in her past which, today, still prevent her from allowing true Light to rule over her heart. As the Holy Virgin remained totally focused on God and on His Works She came across as a radiant Light and as a source of all-pervading warmth for all her fellow creatures. The Heavenly Mistress repeatedly emphasized that a soul radiates God’s Presence to the extent to which she harbours the Light and thereby succeeds in filling her fellow creatures with courage, true hope, confidence, feelings of security, vital strength and zest for life.

Prayer 1698 is concluded by a supplication to seal the soul concerned with the invincible Light of the crucified and risen Christ, because this Light constitutes the embodiment of the omnipotence of God who redeems the soul from the grip of the darkness which, without Jesus Christ’s death on the Cross and Resurrection, would have separated the soul from God for all eternity. Moreover this seal expresses the fact that the actual fulfilment of the purpose and goal of every human soul’s life lies in the perfect imitation of Jesus Christ, who has demonstrated that the soul who experiences the most sublime trials (those of the Passion or, in the case of any created soul, the trials of life in unity with Christ) in a disposition of perfect self-denying Love, will harvest the resurrection to Eternal Life in celestial Bliss

The Holy Virgin and Mother of Jesus Christ is the opener for souls in a state of spiritual distress because God provided this for Her. Her perfect unity with the Heart of Christ was to be crowned and confirmed in this function as an opener. She attempts to fulfil this most sacred Mission in every soul, yet in accordance with the Law of Divine Justice She is only able and allowed to do so to the extent to which the soul explicitly implores Her to and unconditionally accepts and follows Her guidance. Basically this is nothing else but truly practiced total consecration of one’s entire life and entire being to Her.

True imitation of Jesus Christ is essentially this: succeeding in opening up one’s own soul so totally that she liberates herself spontaneously from everything which may prevent spiritual life from fully blooming. This is why the Mistress of all souls is in the true sense of the word the opener of the soul, the One who is able to open up the soul to an unhampered merger with Christ, which is the ultimate purpose of any soul’s life on earth. Unity with Christ means being free from anything which keeps the door to God locked.
