503. PRAYER FOR THE SECOND BIRTH OF JESUS

Little Messiah, King of the Light,
Like a Star in the night the Eternal Father sent You into the dark world to become a Guide for the dying souls on their way along the dark abysses of sin.
See how they have turned their backs on the Sun from the Kingdom of their destination, to warm themselves at the fever of their temptations.
See how they are kneeling down to the promises made to them by the tempter, who has been kissing their souls with the poison pouring out of the original sin.
See how they despise the Love that has come to illuminate the cold cavities of their hearts.
Oh uncrowned King, who in the Most Holy Night had to leave the throne of Mary’s womb to pour God’s wealth into the souls’ poverty, cast flowers of Wisdom into the fields in which only the ill weeds of ignorance are prospering.

What is the true freedom of heart and soul? It is detachment from everything binding you to the world and keeping you captivated in feelings which can never find full satisfaction. This freedom is the sister of sanctity. True freedom results from a far-reaching inspiritment by the Holy Spirit and by the One who has become your Heavenly Mistress by virtue of your having consecrated yourself to Her. If you live with your eyes focused on Heaven, and you enable Mary to actually live within you, you will feel how relative the true importance of worldly influences is. Man often allows the latter to conquer him completely, yet in point of fact they are insignificant. Worldly influences are laden with elements that are not in accordance with God’s eternal Truth, and that lead man away from the interests and real needs of his soul. The world is a source of dissatisfaction, tensions, deception, blinding, temptation, impurity, and yesterday’s experiences may totally disrupt the spontaneity of today’s behaviour. The Holy Virgin Mary emphatically requests that all Christians should now, without any further delay, build a chain of Light. Offer this prayer as frequently as possible, both individually and in prayer groups, and spread it liberally among praying Christians. 1st day – Giving up my past

Dear Mother Mary, Jesus wanted You to be the Mother of all people. That is why, as of today, I entrust myself to Your care. You have been given the power to transform everything which is given You as an offering, into a sacrifice for the Salvation of souls. That is why I give You my past, my entire life up to this day, with all my joys, all my sorrows, all my wounds, all my disappointments and all my failures, each and every moment of each day and each night as of the day I was born, so that nothing may be lost and everything may get its full sense. Do obtain me the strength and the understanding to leave my entire past behind me for good, so that it may never again hinder my actions and the development of my soul, because whatever is Yours, is purified, and will no longer condemn me.

2d day – Forsaking the world

Dear Mother Mary, in You all worldly things have died, and only the flowers of eternity in the Kingdom of Heaven keep blooming. Into Your hands I lay myself, oh Mary. Do now take possession of me, so that also in me any excessive interest for any worldly things may die. Do detach me from everything that binds me to material things, for they do not yield any lasting happiness and try to separate my soul from God and Eternal Bliss. Let me see how empty my longing for worldly things is. Do lay into me the fire of Love for the Kingdom of God and for the Salvation of souls, which can only bloom in the bottom of purified hearts that harbour within themselves Your Heavenly feelings, thoughts and desires like treasures, and which allow the devastating influences from the world to be banned from them.

3d day – Giving up my free will

Dear Mother Mary, God has given every human being a free will. Due to my ignorance and my weakness I have so often used my free will to commit acts which have separated me from God’s grace, have wounded my own soul and have harmed or hurt my fellow person.

That is why I surrender to You my free will and my desires and wishes, for they are stained by the world and by my imperfection. Reign and rule in me, oh Queen of perfection, and be the Mistress of everything I do and everything I refrain from doing, for Your Will is the Mirror of God’s Will, Your wishes are the words of God’s Law of Eternal Salvation. Do teach me what God expects from me, do show me the plans for which He has called me, so that my wishes should no longer be the enemies of my own Salvation. Teach me to imitate You in saying 'yes' to God’s decisions, so that my obedience may compensate the original sin within me, and may bring Salvation upon many souls.

4th day – Act of submission

Dear Mother Mary, no one lives for himself alone. Every soul was sent into the world by God in order to accomplish her own mission for the accomplishment of His Plan of Salvation for mankind. You know my mission in life, and You know my faculties and my weaknesses. That is why I entrust to You the rule over my entire life. Please be my infallible Guide on every path of my life, so that I may never again go astray, for the way to perfection and sanctity holds no secrets for You. I put at Your service everything I do or fail to do, and so that I may stand firm in the heavy struggle of living in this world, I implore You for Your perpetual help and Your protection against any dangers and any evil threatening me from the world outside, but also against myself, so that my human nature may not become an enemy of my own soul. Please grant me the privilege of being Your servant until eternity, so that my life may make a difference to my fellow person.

5th day – Consecration of my heart and mind

Dear Mother Mary, all too often sin grows rampant in man’s heart and mind, for our feelings and thoughts are sources of impurity. That is why I implore You to lay Your own Heart and mind inside of me, so that my soul may be nourished constantly by the strength of Your immaculate sanctity. I also consecrate to You all my fears, doubts, worries and insecurities, and my lack of faith and confidence, for all these states of mind make my heart and mind waver and insult God, who has only got the best intentions with me. 6th day – Renouncing my merits

Dear Mother Mary, God has entrusted You with the rule over the execution of His Plan of Salvation for the souls and over the preparation of His Kingdom on earth. Lay within me the fire of desire to give myself completely up to You, oh Mother, so that the merits of all I do and refrain from doing, my good deeds, my sacrifices, my penance, all my prayers, the Sacraments I receive and all my suffering in body, mind, heart and soul, may be used by You as contributions to redeeming the tremendous burden of sin gathered by mankind against God. Nothing of all God wants to prepare for me as a reward in this life, I want to receive for my own benefit, for if I lay everything into Your Heart You will let Yourself flow over into me completely, and Heaven will live within me even on earth.

7th day – Departing from all evil

Dear Mother Mary, God has given us the promise that the devil is going to be tamed underneath Your feet. In order to be Yours completely, I implore You for the strength and the guidance to be able to depart from all evil, and to flee all temptation. I give myself up to You as ransom for souls that are captured in the traps of evil, and as a means of payment for the grace of a virtuous life, also for myself, for this is the only way for me to be a true follower of Jesus and for my soul to inherit the full fruit of Redemption gained by Jesus’ Death on the Cross. O perfect Mirror of God’s Light, I know You are waiting for my word of consent to You to conclude with me the covenant through which You want to lead me to sanctity. Therefore I implore You for the understanding, the strength and the perseverance to depart without any reserves from everything hindering Your actions within me.

8th day – Consecration of my major weaknesses

Dear Mother Mary, God has given You the unique privilege of the Immaculate Conception: Your soul has remained free from the original sin. Not one single sin ever darkened Your life, not one single weakness ever separated You from God. God has given You to me as a Medicine for my wounded soul. Full of confidence in Your burning Love and Your unparalleled power I implore You to infuse my soul with the Grace of Heavenly strength, Wisdom and Love, so that I may walk in Your footsteps more and more each day, on the path to sanctity. To that end I also implore You to liberate me from my major weaknesses and faults, which keep making me stumble and prevent me from coming nearer to You, and which decrease the value of my self-sacrifice to You.

Dear Mother Mary, the Spirit of God has granted me the privilege of answering Your call to add sense to my entire life by surrendering myself completely to You as Your servant. Into Her you are to sow all your trials, sufferings, sacrifices, prayers and good intentions as seeds which will ripen under the beams of the Holy Spirit to become fruits that are going to last forever. Thus he who sincerely consecrates himself to Mary is taken up into the Chain of Light, in which the Triune God, Mary and the consecrated Christians merge under the power of one of the most wonderful Divine Mysteries: the unity of souls. 609. SUPPLICATION TO OBTAIN TOTAL FORGIVENESS

Dear Mother Mary, sublime Advocate invested with an immeasurable power upon the Merciful Heart of God, I come to You filled with remorse, for my soul is so encumbered.
To whom could I turn but to You, my tender Mother, who have known all the pains of a wounded heart.
The pitfalls of temptation have made my soul stumble, yet I know that Your Love offers up on the altar of Redemption the sufferings of those who have fallen.

Total forgiveness of sins, mistakes and omissions is the absolute condition for entering the Kingdom of Heaven. Total forgiveness can be obtained only through an individual sacramental Confession. The Sacrament of the dying (the Anointing of the sick or Extreme Unction) is invested with a redeeming power. The above prayer is intended as a first step towards reconciliation with God, yet you have got to top this token of good will off by speaking a Confession regularly, accompanied by sincere remorse and expiation, for you know neither the day nor the hour when your journey through life is going to end, and there is only one way to reconcile your soul with God: living and dying in a state of grace. So you must be delivered from the burden of sin. Never forget Mary, our Advocate whose power is rightly estimated only by very few. One single word of Hers is able to obtain Eternal Life for you. Honour Her and serve Her, and never forget your life is way too short to repay Her for everything She is doing for you throughout life, and will be doing for you in the hour of your death. The following prayer was inspired first of all to be prayed on the Feast of Mary’s Immaculate Conception, December 8, between 12 o’clock and 1 p.m., because this is a very special hour of grace. Do lay down the Child of Eternal Salvation on the straw of my imperfection, so that the latter may burn up in the fire God alone can light inside of me, and I will be able to make my peace with the burdens of my past and all my memories.

So much resistance and aversion the sight of them have aroused in me. So much resentment my heart has experienced over the sufferings which so often did not make any sense to me.
But the cold of my journey leads me to the shelter where the fire of Eternal Love is waiting for me. I know now that the pain of my trials gives light to the Star that will show me the way to Salvation.
Please make me acquainted with the gift You are carrying in Your Womb, oh Mother, so that I may find peace in embracing the Cross for which the Messiah, too, has accepted His life on earth.

4th day – Peace with my relations

Do free me of the resentment which oppresses me because of the people I do not love enough.
Teach me how to accept the intentions God has with my relations, so that I may praise every encounter like a gift enabling me to serve God in my fellow person and to accomplish my mission in this world in a way that may please Him. Then the King of Peace will find in me the warmth that was denied Him at Bethlehem.

5th day – Peace in all families

So great is the stain which defiles the blessing spoken by God over this Sacrament, if any resentment is enabled to arise within this bond.
O Mother, do inspirit all relations within the families through Your peaceful Love, so that God’s Kingdom may take root within them, and that they may find the strength to be mirrors of the Holy Family of Nazareth every time they go through a rough patch.

O Mother, may God’s Spirit, who effused the King of Peace into You, now effuse Him into all souls, so that man may no longer retaliate for his pains over trials he has not understood, by inflicting pain upon his fellow creatures.
May the eternal peace of a truly holy mankind now come down upon the world, so that the crown of God’s Creation may no longer be the thorn in God’s eye.

With these words You testified of Your complete surrender to God’s provisions in Your life.
O Mary, my heart so easily experiences feelings of resentment concerning my destiny. So often my heart resists the Plan God harbours for my life.
Do obtain for me the grace of an understanding and trusting acceptance. Have You not undertaken the wintry journey to Bethlehem, overflowing with trust in God, in order to give birth to Jesus in the greatest hardship?
Please lead me towards true sanctity, so that I may regard my burdens and trials as opportunities and privileges from God’s hand and as hidden gifts from His Providence. Then the Star of Peace will be my light on every inch of my life’s journey.

O Mother, please heal me from all my feverish thoughts, which unsettle me and have befogged my mind with dissatisfaction.
Do take me with You through Your silent contemplation of God’s Mysteries, so that no worldly thinking nor the burden of memories may ever again take away from my mind the Heavenly Peace of the soul that has found God within herself.

Peace of heart is considered to be a major characteristic of spiritual growth. The heart can only experience true peace when the Holy Spirit is working unrestrainedly in it, for a heart which is at peace, is a heart which has dealt with the destructive power of the negative and unsettling influences from the world that are threatening man. Therefore peace at heart expresses itself in an inner state of brightfulness, softness, friendliness, tolerance, meekness, patience, joy in spite of any trials, trust, courage, abandon, inner happiness. Lack of peace at heart points to a lack of abandon when dealing with trials.

619. INVOCATION TO THE HOLY SPIRIT IN THE EVENT OF BEING DISCOURAGED

Beloved Holy Spirit, Source of Eternal Wisdom, Father of the Incarnation of the Light of the world,
To You I am calling to be delivered from the fog closing in on my mind.
My heart is moaning under the cross of dispiritedness and my soul is crying, for life is depriving me of reasons to believe, to hope and to trust.
Through Mary’s most pure Heart I implore of You a sign of Light, for darkness is trying to drive my heart away from God for good.
Do let the Light beam into my heart, so that I may see, and that I may no longer be discouraged by the deceiving appearance of things.

A person harbouring negative dispositions may leave a trail of destruction in his wake. Negative dispositions are those which deviate from the virtues, in the first place everything which deviates from a joyful mood, a soft attitude, tolerance, mildness, patience, gentleness. These virtues constitute the main ingredients of true Love. A person who does not practice Love is recognized by his tendency or habit to gossip, to backbite, to slander, to be grumpy, quick-tempered, unfriendly, impatient, prone to criticizing, prone to judging and to condemning. You know what they say: "The tree is known by its fruits". A sick tree is unable to yield healthy fruits. Likewise negative sayings about one’s fellow person do not grow on the tree of true Love. There are people who claim to have a special vocation as a channel or instrument of Mary or Jesus, but who at the same time say evil things about their fellow person or in any other way express a negative disposition of their hearts. Be careful with the things they say, for it is very doubtful whether people casting off such fruits are truly rooted in the soil in which the tree of Eternal Love blossoms.

Dear Mother Mary, Heavenly Mother of Sorrows,
How deeply am I tortured by the sight of Your face filled with sadness.

The following prayer was originally inspired to be said by souls who have fully consecrated themselves to Mary. Total consecration which is truly profoundly applied, is the greatest gift you could possibly give to Mary, as this is the way to give Her EVERYTHING you have got: Your entire being and your entire life, no detail excepted. She then becomes the Mistress of EVERYTHING which concerns you and of everything which belongs to you. By laying all of this into Her hands undividedly and unconditionally, without any resistance, with all the Love and all the strength contained in your soul and body, you can obtain the greatest graces. The greatest means of payment you can possibly give to Mary to obtain the healing of a fellow person who is seriously ill, is the promise you are willing to help carry this fellow person’s cross. You should not make such a promise lightly, for it is a sacred thing to do. The willingness to suffer together with one’s fellow person, alleviating their sufferings by helping to carry their cross, can not be made fruitful if it is not based on some kind of vocation and is not built on the grace of a deep Love. (*) One day the Queen of Heaven observed there are souls who do not understand these final invocations the way they are intended. Therefore She granted the following explanation: "The soul should bear in mind she should not expect the Holy Spirit to unlock the very depths of her being, her characteristics and dispositions for her without her active and yearning collaboration. God will never allow a soul not to make her own contributions to her personal growth, development, bloom and perfection. Just like every other prayer to the Holy Spirit I have inspired within the framework of My Flower Garden, the present Pentecost Novena was intended to be an urgent incentive to practice an intensive collaboration between the soul and the Holy Spirit, on the basis of the soul’s sincere desire to get to know herself the way she really is. Only in that case will the soul be enabled to harvest the merits of her self discovery. The souls must never forget that self discovery is one of the major missions God entrusts to each soul to be accomplished in the course of her journey through life. Discovery of self is basically a lifelong mission to be accomplished day after day. Dear brothers and sisters in God’s Glory,
From my daily struggle for the establishment of God’s Kingdom in my heart I implore you for your joint intercession for the benefit of my tormented soul.

Oh Jesus, expiatory Sacrifice to Divine Justice, may I stay awake with You in the garden of paradise, which is now sighing under the darkness of sin.

Oh Jesus, suffering from utter exhaustion, may I nourish You with the honey of my conversion. May I give You the wine of my remorse to drink.
Oh do let my heart beat inside of You, every hour of the day and the night, in order that Your loneliness while expiating the sins may be dispelled.

MONDAY: The taking and sentencing of Jesus

Oh Jesus, Lamb of God destined to be slaughtered for the atonement of our sins.
I want to give You the kiss of my loyalty, for the traitor is near.
So many souls I want to give You, for in this night of the world Divine Justice will be passing the sentence the sins of all times have been preparing.
You are mocked because of my foolishness. You are getting the blows I deserve to get.
Now the hour of my liberation has come, for in You my sinfulness is taken captive.
You are remaining silent because of every superfluous word I ever spoke.
Eternal High Priest, do remember my Love when night will have fallen over my life.

TUESDAY: The Scourging of Jesus

Oh Jesus, Sign of contradiction, in You I deliver all my vices, my weaknesses, my sins and my moments of indolence to the scourge, in order that they may be washed out of me by Your Divine Blood.
In You all the lashes I have suffered through my fate will now be sanctified.
In You my soul is torn loose from the shackles tying her to the world.
In You I allow my body to be dethroned as the king of my entire being, for it has been subjecting my soul to the tyranny of temptation and sin for far too long.
May I tie all obliquities, deceptions and seductions from the world to the scourging pillar, so that they may be destroyed.

WEDNESDAY: Jesus’ Crowning with thorns

Oh Jesus, King of Heaven and earth, I come and give You the rose of my heart, for mankind has crowned You with thorns.
In You, evil has debased man to become an object of mockery, in order that God’s Love may be insulted.
How blind sin is, worshiping itself and crowning itself king.
How foolish is the arrogance from which the erring ones prepare for the holy ones the thorns which, in the meantime, tear up their own souls.
Oh true King of the hearts, allow me to glorify the Kingdom which is still hidden underneath the thorns, but will be established on the Blood which has kissed Your Holy Face.

THURSDAY: Jesus’ Way of the Cross

Oh Jesus, Way, Truth and Life, on Your shoulders lies the burden of the sins of all the ages.
My soul longs so ardently to cleanse herself from every stain by supporting You in Your redemptive Works.
I can see You falling under the burden I myself have been laying on Your shoulders myself.
I can see Your and my Mother Mary, who is shedding tears at the sight of my sins.
Like Simon I want to help carry the cross of the world.
Like Veronica I want to cleanse the souls from the mud of sin.
Do now turn the eyes of my heart to the Mount Calvary of my life, so that I may be able to crucify my sins and vices and to glorify You in the death of the world inside my soul.

FRIDAY: Jesus on the Cross

Oh Jesus, Source of the Blood of deliverance.
At the foot of Your Cross, by the side of Mary, my Co-Redemptrix, I offer You the adoration and gratitude from all of mankind throughout the ages, on account of the hours which have changed the souls’ fate.
In You I crucify all sins of the world, as well as the prince of darkness who is set on wresting all mankind from You.
May the Light from Your Wounds beam upon the souls of all times, past, present and future.
May Your body and Blood provide nourishment and drink for all sinners, so that they may live forever owing to Your death so rich in blessings. Do now rise inside their hearts, my God, so that they may believe in You.

The unparalleled Sacrifice Jesus turned His life on earth into for our sakes, is like celestial seed which is sowed into the fields of souls yet, if it is to bloom, has to be watered by the rain of grace and shone upon by the sun of Love. This means Redemption must be 'made effective' inside of you by your own efforts to guarantee the fruitfulness of the graces which God keeps providing you with day after day, and by your Love. The greatest expression of Love is surely your aspiring to maintain a close unity with Jesus and Mary when carrying your daily crosses. A prayer like the one above, through which you aim to partake in the Sufferings of Jesus, is therefore a very valuable source of reparation.

731. PRAYER OF EXPIATION FOR MY ENTIRE LIFE

Most Holy Virgin Mary, my most pure Mother and Refuge of sinners,
In my soul’s distress I throw myself at Your feet to give my life to You.
Every action I have performed in my life, each word I have spoken, each thought and every wish I have harboured I now bury in Your burning Heart, in order that the fire of Your Love may consume all my sins, my aberrations and shortcomings.
I implore Your powerful intercession to obtain forgiveness for everything through which I have ever failed to practice charity and Love towards. I regret all the pain, sorrow, grief, harm and inconvenience I have caused any fellow creature.
I give You my deep remorse over everything through which I have increased my debts towards God.
Queen of Heaven, in You I trust and hope for the remission of my sins and for the purification of my soul, so that I may be saved. May my remorse and the consecration of the aberrations of my entire life to Your Immaculate Heart also obtain other souls the grace of understanding, conversion and salvation.
Do now burn Jesus’ Cross into my heart, so that I may live and die in God’s Love, and that I may obtain the grace of being born again in a purifying Confession.

Oh Jesus, Messiah of God,
Do come and fill the earth with the Light of Your Truth, for the night of aberrations and deceptions has come down upon many souls.
Come, oh Jesus, to gather Your sheep, for the pastures of God’s Kingdom are running empty.
Come, oh Jesus, to make the promised dawn of Eternal Love rise within the hearts, for darkness is hiding the sun from the eyes filled with hope.
Come, oh Jesus, in the glory of Your healing power, for in many spirits the deicide has already been committed.

736. CONSECRATION OF THE HOUR OF MY BIRTH TO THE INFANT JESUS

Most Holy Infant Jesus, Son of God and of the Immaculate Virgin Mary,
To You I consecrate the hour in which I came into the world, in order that the celestial Light of Your Birth may shine upon my entire being.
I lay my soul and my body, my mind and my heart, all joys, pains and sorrows of my entire life next to You in the cradle of Bethlehem, so that Your very first tears may wash them at the Source of all sanctity.
All darkness from the original sin I was born with, I lay into Your little Heart, in order that it may be dispelled by the blinding Light of Your Blood.
Oh Light of all times and of all eternity, bear me into the world. Do renew the hour of my birth for a journey through life through You, with You and in You, for the grotto of my soul is lost in the winterly night and longs so much for the everlasting summer of Your Glory.
Now take my nothingness up into the cradle with You, oh Divine Child, and lay me in Mary’s arms, so that I may be born again under Your Sign, and every past day of my life may, even now, merge with the Light that has sent You into the world.

The following prayer is an exception to the nature of the prayers Mary usually inspires to Myriam: This prayer makes a request for an alleviation and even a removal of sufferings, which is not normally in accordance with God’s Plan the way Mary keeps revealing it to me. Why this exception? Because this prayer offers something in exchange which, basically, is able to take away the necessity of suffering: Love. Human suffering is the great fruit of the original sin. Suffering is a means to redeem the debt of sins against Divine Justice. When a sacrifice of ardent Love is offered to God, and on top of this an act of acceptance of Divine Will is spoken (as is the case in this prayer), Divine Mercy can come into action to such an extent as to surpass the effects produced by Divine Justice regarding this intention.

Sufferings are necessary to re-establish the balance in God’s creation, which has been severely distorted by the burden of sin. Sincere and ardent Love for God and one’s fellow creature constitutes the pre-eminent means to 'redeem' this necessity. This is why prayers for the healing of serious illnesses which, from our point of view, are incurable, may sometimes be heard, on the proviso that they are said in deep Love of God and of the suffering creature, that they testify of the praying soul’s accepting whatever God may decide regarding the matter for which the prayers are said, and that they are preferably said by as many people as possible. This is why this prayer was inspired, which was intended to be used as frequently as possible by souls building a chain: by a number of people agreeing among themselves – as a spiritual association, so to speak – to pray it on a daily basis. In so doing, the joint intention and the united Love are laid into the perfect Heart of Mary with a view to storming Divine Mercy.

739. STORM PRAYER FOR A SICK PERSON

Most Blessed Virgin Mary, Mediatrix of all Graces,
Into Your most pure Heart, consumed by the Love with which God Himself has lit it, I lay my deep longing for God’s Mercy in favour of ..... (name).
May he/she obtain alleviation of the sufferings and the illness tormenting his/her body, in order that his/her being cured may glorify God.
With a view to obtaining this favour I offer You my charity and my willingness to make sacrifices, united with the Sufferings of Jesus and with Your holy Sorrows.
Should a complete healing of this sick person not fit in with God’s Plans, then I pray for Your intercession in order that this prayer might sanctify this sick person’s soul, and might bestow upon him/her and myself the strength to accept God’s Will as the perfect fruit of His infinite Wisdom.
